I just recently bought a malcolm in the middle dvd which is region 1. I already have a dvd player which can switch between regions in the living room but i want to watch it in my bedroom. please help!

no you cannot change the region however you can but an action replay region changer it will allow you to watch american films. but won't allow you to play games from other countries.

Action Replay 2 Version 2 has a multi-region DVD player.

I know about old PS2 (not the slim one), that if you own US or Japanese version (NTSC U/C or NTSC J) you can do it by installing a special pirate chip (Modbo or others) and make it multizone (except movies), also you will be able to play cracked games. If you install this chip on euroversion (PAL), you'll be able to play cracked games, but PS2 will stick to the same zone.
