Yes, I do. I saw a little girl at a garden in our 150 year old home. We didn't even know there had been a garden there. We decided to dig that area up and plant some flowers and there was a cement curb around the area that had been completely covered by soil. I've seen others as well. Can't explain it, but I've seen it. By the way, the little girl was just standing there looking down...I assume she was looking at the flowers that had probably been there at the time she was alive. 51% of Americans believe in spirits.

The concept of the human spirit (or soul) was invented by Augustine of Hippo (later, St. Augustine) about 390 AD. Jesus discussed immortality, using paternalistic allagories, but never specified how immortality might actually work. Augustine combined Plato's Idealism with Aristotle's Solipsism and asserted that God loans each new human being a tiny bit of His own immortal essence at the moment of their birth. The idea was that the experience of being alive would allow God's gift to grow into a human soul that would return to God in Heaven, after the mortal human died.

From this theological beginning, the idea of human spirits, or ghosts, developed into its present form. It is important to understand, until the end of the sixteenth century, when Galileo finally proved the physical realm was the basis of reality, all educated Western thinkers were Solipsists. This means they imagined their own perceptions were the basis of reality. If a solipsist experienced what modern people would call a hallucination, there was no doubt, the vision was considered absolutely real, simply because solipsists believed their perceptions were real and that the physical realm was a figment of their imagination. They literally believed, if a tree fell in the woods and there was no human present to witness the fall, that no sound was created. For solipsists, reality was what we would call the theater of our mind's eye.

Solipsism (and Idealism) dominated Western civilization from five-hundred years before Christ until Galileo and Newton proved that the proper foundation of reality is the physical realm. The widespread belief that one's own subjective experiences were real led directly to a culture that believed in all manner of supernatural apparitions and spirits. Nothing was so bizarre that it couldn't be real, if even only one person in a group claimed to have witnessed it. Logic and reason were in short supply and unsubstantiated superstitions were automatically assumed to be valid. Even in modern times, people who should know better delight in pretending ghosts and goblins are real. All things which are "spiritual" critically depend on the false assumption that one's own perceptions form the basis of reality.

Do I believe in spirits or ghosts? No way! I'm a scientist and I know, without doubt, that the only legitimate basis for reality is the objective (physical) realm. In our times, ghosts, spirits, and souls are simply fiction. Fun to think about, but nothing more.

Yes I do know they exist. I have had contact of sorts with both the Good spirits (angles) and the evil spirits (demons).
I much prefer the good. I would like to be able to forget my contacts with the evil. But I guess someone must carry on the fight with them.

Sure, there are Good Spirits and Evil Spirits.

Good Spirits: Rum, Whiskey, Gin, Vodka...

Evil Spirits: um... none that I can think of at the moment.

Yes, but spirits and ghost on earth are nothing but demonic spirits trying to deceive you. If a person is dead they are either in Heaven or Hell they cannot be on Earth. So any spirits you encounter on Earth are nothing but demons trying to deceive you.

Yes, I do. I believe there is a spirit world that we can not see but sometimes overlaps with our physical world.
