when one buys a camera, there are ratings of mega pixel as1.8,2.00 etc what do they mean.are they resolutio powers or.............

The more mp's the better resolution in enlargements on photographs. Try editing a picture, crop and enlarge, you'll see quickly how far a photo can be manipulated before it looses resolution quality and blurrs.

I have 12.1 mp camera, I do a lot of vignette editing and enlarging.

They are a means to confuse the common camera purchaser. It is a marketing scheme to separate you from your money. Slap a high megapixel rating on a camera, put a coke bottle on it for a lens, and watch the sheep come to the slaughter.
Lens quality, sensor size and quality are a far more accurate means of determining picture quality.
I can sell you a high GHz computer too, but with only 32Meg of ram and a 32 meg video card and 5gig hard drive, have fun using it....

Yes, they refer to resolution. The higher the number the larger the print you can make. 3 or 4 mp's is good enough for everyday picture taking.

yep pixels do determine ur resolution... and is also determines the maximum size you could print a picture with good quality. the bigger u want the picture to be, the higher pixel rate ur cam should be.
