I recently purchased a 1 lb can of refrigerated crab meat. As I may not use it for some time, can I freeze it until I need it, without ruining it?

you can. i have done it. when crab is on sale i would pick up 1 or 2 and freeze them. just make sure if it's a plastic container you put it a size larger. when it freezes it might pop the top and dry out. that happened to me once.

Don't freeze anything in a can. Open it, and flip the crab into a tupperware container or a ziplock. I like the ziplocks because you can squeeze all the air out to prevent freezer burn.

Turn it over and see what the expiration date is. Chances are there is moisture in it and if you freeze it, it may burst the can depending on how much is in there.

Yes just put it in the freezer, but I know you probably want to make a great dish with it.Is it in the tub with a clear lid?I would put it in a freezer bag first.

If its canned don't open it. It probably has a good shelf life. If you've opened it you can freeze it for some time.
