mikegoff, are you speaking from personal experience? The stories I heard and which are on the website I referenced did not involve treating someone with respect, but rather, discriminating people who were not Christians.

Matgo - I heard that broadcast, which is what inspired this question. Dan and Annie Laurie rock!

There are certain individuals within the air force that find it necessary to push their beliefs on others. Let me be the first to say that these types are the EXCEPTION, not the rule.

There is absolutley NO official christian prosletyzing of any sort. If anything, the military encourages individuals to pursue the religion of their choice and offers chaplains and services for most major religions. Heck, they even recognized wicca as an official religion a few years ago.

Go, seek your faith. be convicted in your beliefs and if anyone gives you a hard time, simply ignore them for being closed minded zealots. Trust in your convicions to find a higher power of your own undersatnding and you'll never be wrong.

Strange that you do not address this inquiry to anybody in the Air Force...All the military branches have chaplains for the majority of religious faiths in the US...There are no atheists in foxholes, as the saying goes...But there never was any open evangelizing on duty while I served in the AF for 15 yrs...Off duty and off base - yes and also at on-base chapel services

such is not tolerated in the military.. in any Branch. people have had careers ruined over such discrimination or proselytizing in an official capacity.

One's religious beliefs are PRIVATE matters, and as such, preaching or otherwise pushing one's own views onto others is not allowed.

Does it happen? yes. But when brought out in the open, such people are punished for it. It's just a ,matter of having the courage to go to the IG and complain.

I live near Eglin AFB and I know a lot of guys in the air force....a lot of them are very strong Christians and go to my church...but from what I've heard there aren't a lot of Christians in any of the branches...and to the last comment about Christians and Muslims using propaganda is just silly...Muslims usepropaganda to influence young men (and women) to kill has many non-muslims or "infidels" as they can...and Christians don't use it at all.

No.

There are a lot of people who need to calm down and get a life though.

So they guy is a devout Christian - as long as he treats you with respect, whats the problem?

All branches of the military have a frightening amount of christian religious propaganda involved in them.

The same kind of unquestioning and respect for authority inherent in religion is necessary in the military.

Americans criticize Muslims for using their propaganda to get young recruits to join their organizations. It is no different when American churches and military recruiters do it.
