I just got this coffee table that has a design on top that consists of bamboo like sticks glued on. Many of the sticks started to come loose and I just ended up removing them with the plan of just staining the table. Anyhow, there are a few sticks that are really hard to get off. Is there a clever trick to loosen the glue underneath to make them come off easier?

Try using a putty knife with the beveled edge down.

If you are planning to refinish the table, the stripper should loosen the adhesive on the sticks. Follow label instructions and end up with a new table.

I'd use a heat-gun (or hair-dryer) to help warm and loosen the glue, then lift the "sticks" with a putty knife.

Obviously, then you will have to sand the table top to prep it for stain.

Good Luck !!
