Plumber: Those that refuse to risk anything for anything cannot understand those that risk everything to keep them safe.
LTC Grossman ( www.killology.com )most aptly defines this in his analogy to sheep, wolves and guarddogs. The military (and law enforcement) being the guarddogs, which look very much like the wolves (terrorists/criminals). The sheep don't like to be reminded that the threat exists and don't like to be told they have to go to safer pastures, hence they disdain the dog until the wolf arrives (for example 9/11) when they appreciate the dog again.

It is amazing some of the things they've said about the General and I expect a backlash from the American people for their crass attempt to assail his impeccable character.
