He could do odd jobs, such as weeding, hauling, cleaning windows, landscaping, house cleaning.... Just advertise in the paper, or send out fliers.

Because he his so young he can't legally have a "job" in the US, however he can still work to earn money if that's what he wants to do.

With my 13 yr old, I have various jobs that she can do around the house that will earn her some extra money when she wants it. She has regular chores and she doesn't get an allowance. She comes says she wants to earn some extra money - what can she do.

Each "job" has a different value depending on how much time it takes her to do it. A Couple of examples:
Washing my car inside & out (saving me a trip to the car wash) = $10
Pulling the weeds in my flower beds when I can't get to them = $5

Too, she calls Grandma and Grandpa and asks if there is anything she can do to earn a little money. Grandpa has her mow his far back yard (big) and pays her about $10 for the job. Grandma will have come over and help clean house and pay her a little to do that too.

We also have a friend who owns a small restraunt. Sometimes my daughter will jump in on busy nights when he doesn't have a waitress and start taking orders and serving plates, tea, water and sodas but not the alcohol. He paid her $20 last time she helped out, plus her dinner free and then she got tips too.

Young kids CAN EARN money if they want to. They just can't work legally in a place of business to earn a wage.

When my sons were about 10 they started their own "garbage business"
They went around the neighbourhood, spoke to the neighbours and for a dollar a can they hauled the garbage to the street each week, brought the empty cans back to the house and washed them out once a month.
If they missed a week, or did not pick up the mess left by the garbage men, they will do the next week free.
As they grew and showed responsibility, they were asked to do diffrent small jobs by our neighbours.
They always had pocket money, learned a good work ethic, and became good community members.

Figure out why your son wants a job. Is it to get money? If so, maybe it's time to give him an allowance. His 'job' right now is being your kid.
That said, you son can work and make money in the entertainment business - print work, commercials, etc. It takes a lot of commitment from you the parent.
Your son can also make things to sell, do odd jobs for neighbors, babysit, sell lemonade during garage sale and sell things online (with your help, of course).
I think it's great that your son is so enterprising, but again, look at why he wants a job.

not allowed in most states at the age of 10 but once a child turns 13 a paper route is the best job to give them. for know give him small jobs around the house (dishes, clean room, trash, feed pet, windows, lawn care (not mowing), vacuum floors etc..) reward it with money or some other thing.

Give him extra chores to earn money, like raking the yard, taking care of the family pets, etc. A child I believe has to be at least 12 for a paper route.

you're right, it is hard for a 10-yr-old to get a job. he's too young for a business to hire him, but he could mow lawns, walk dogs or dogsit, other yard work, odd jobs. i'm not sure what the age is at the golf course for caddies, but you could check into that too.

i believe the only business he could work for would be one owned by a relative, but that you would have to check out to be sure of the legalities in your area.
