my brother passed away and i just was a bum of about 6 months. I worked odd jobs, never really made any money. i just have not gotten to it. and i going to get in trouble or what. or should i do it now?

Nope, you won't be in trouble, but I would file your return as soon as possible. If you owe the irs penalties and interest will keep mounting until you file and pay the tax on the return. If they owe you, you have 3 years to file the return and get a refund on it. After 3 years you are out of luck. But if you owe them they have forever if you haven't filed anything.

Yes, do it now. Whether you are in "big trouble" depends on your definition - if you owe any taxes, you'll owe extra for penalties for being late, but as long as you get it done pretty soon, that will be about all that will happen.

Condolences on losing your brother. Glad to hear that you seem to be getting your life back together.

Just send in your tax return. If there's is a refund, you will get it in the ordinary course of business. If you owe, you will get a bill for penalty and interest.

depends on if you wound up with taxable income for 2006 - only way to find out is to file the return
