That....well..firstly..I was, I am and I probably will be the victim of racism...I will never forget about those days when kids push me...swear at me and call me a c h i n k with c h i n k y eyes..and that I should just go back to where I came from
-CHINA
I was obviously hurt and I use to cry all the time when people say that..but the teasing got worse..In high school...I sorrt of developed this 'don't take ****' kind of attitude..so I don't tolerate any kind of racist comments...In the earlier years..I was going through this angry phase so I would swear and abuse them back,,,but the teasing was still pretty bad..

Later on in High School..I would tell them off and say that what they are doing is wrong...then I would push them and say 'Take that ..remember me..'cause I'm not ya average C H I N K!'

Some of my Chinese friends call me racist for using that term but I hope you know what I 've meant ..all I'm doing is trying to redefine the term...

I'm using their term to bite them back..
Don't people see that I was being sarcastic? the joke and sort of smart humour that one can see in parodies...?
What's the point of acting all angry in front those who gives you a hard time? I thought that it would be a lot better by redefining that term..

who can offer me some advice? Am I right for doing this?

Hi, I wouldn't be offended with what you said. I guess some people are more sensitive. If you want, you can just say " I am not ya average chinese".

So teasing still exists in high school nowadays?? It happened to me when I was in high school. That was a while ago but I thought things were getting better now.

I do not believe that you're racist, you're simply watching for precise characteristics for your associate, and certainly Jammal and Tyrone did not bring the trends which you're watching for. In any ethnicity there are precise elegance phases of individuals. Perhaps you've got matured in a procedure that has you watching round and say... that is me or who I wish to be, I wish larger and extra. I do not know your social popularity or your households social popularity. However there's a social divide in all races. I am white, for instance and I don't tolerate what might be regarded "white trash". Now, I am no longer regarding individuals who're deficient or have a restricted earnings. That in my guide does not make one trashy. I am referring to those that pass out in their approach to be crude, obnoxious and belligerent, individuals who recognize larger however don't care and can hold to act that manner. For instance (and please don't take offense to this), on account that you're black one would possibly expect you live within the ghetto (you may also or would possibly not, I have no idea you), nonetheless if that is in which you probably did live, one might additionally without difficulty expect that you'll be ghetto trash simply on the grounds that that's in which you may also are living. However everyone knows that simply on the grounds that one would possibly live in a place both legit or no longer legit that doesn't imply that they're of the social popularity of the field they live in. So at the same time those guys you've got dated would possibly behave in a procedure that you're certainly no longer drawn to, it does no longer imply that every one guys of your ethnicity behave in a equivalent procedure. The incontrovertible fact that you'll be became off through even your possess race this second does not no longer make you racist in any respect. It makes you human on the grounds that you now not wish to manage what is also underneath you.

I'm a Chinese and I'm very proud to be one.

I don't care whatever the other say to me so far if I know what I'm doing is right and don't hurt the others!

Below is one of my favourite quotations, I would like to share it with you here, Cheers!

"People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies. Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you. Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, some could destroy it overnight. Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough. Give the world the best you've got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.
You may also wish to share it with your friends. Share with them anyway."

I think you should be yourself and proud of being a Chinese. Think about it why people chose to call other ppl's names. Jealousy. Don't feel bad of the word Chink because remember some Chinese also called them "gwai lo". The morale is you can't stop what ppl said!

However, if you think the situation would be better if you retaliate, by all mean..patience got it's limit too AND coward and patience is just a thin line..cheers

"When we see men of a contrary character, we should turn inwards and examine ourselves." —Confucius (Do not bring yourself down to their level.)

"He who exercises judgment by means of his virtue may be compared to the north polar star, which keeps its place and all the stars turn towards it." —Confucius (Make your actions as an example for others to follow.)

"The superior man is satisfied and composed; the mean man is always full of distress." —Confucius (You are a better person than those that mock others. Do not let their contempt for people change your disposition. If you are truly confident in yourself you will not let those that are without esteem effect you.)

"What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others."—Confucius (needs no explanation.)

Another bit of advice. Take a Martial Arts Class. I took Wing Chun when I was 13 years old, I never regretted it (I'm 46 know and still practice it). When you practice a martial art it will teach you self-defense, but above all it will teach you self control, discipline and self confidence. You will not feel threatened by people who are of no consequence to you. If you actually have a real confrontation you will most likely able to handle the situation smartly.
Good Luck and take care

Racism is not just a word used, it's under the circumstances and the actual underlying meaning behind it. Just saying the word doesn't make one a racist, but when used under a different situation or directing it to a certain person of that race, or wanting to hit out on a certain race with the purpose to hurt, divide or injure, it's racism.

I have heard that term. I never found out what it means. Chink doesn't sound too bad and I wouldn't let them get a rise out of you. We are all just people that all look a little different. Nothing wrong with being Chinese, English, French, etc...Well, maybe French was a bad example! Just kidding. Stay proud and don't react!

same as dropping the "N-bomb" on the black people,

It is an automatiic authorisation for me to beat people up back in school if that word is ever used on me. ;)

Dear, you never say that word, because even chinese people don't use that word amongst themselves. i see where you coming from, but never say the word on yourself.

Take care of yourself.

I believe there were some misunderstanding between you and your friends. That word is very strong. Next time when you are quoting it, be careful.
I wouldn't worry about your Chinese friends's comments. It's understandable that they take that word way too serious.
