My daughter is on a competitive cheering squad and she is 4. Now, she started because my older daughter, who is 14, is on her Jr. High Cheer Squad. We went to this cheer and dance studio so she could take lessons to learn her back handsprings. They have tons of different classes, and my littlest wanted to cheer. I was amazed they had it, but they do.

They should start at any age they want to. The best thing to do is start them in gymnastics while there young so that by high school they could be a lot better and know that they will have a spot on varsity. Hope this helps a little.

it depends on your area. where i live there is little league football, and they have little league cheerleaders for it. there's two division the first for kids 7-9 and the second is 10-13. then after that of course there is often times cheerleaders for middle schools and high schools. so if you're area has a little league program they can probably start around 7. otherwise its probably in middle school.
if there is no youth program and your child is not yet in middle school, i would suggest enrolling in gymnastics classes. they're a lot of fun and it will help prepare her for the possibility of trying out for cheerleading in school.

My district didn't have cheerleading squads until 5th grade. I started cheerleading when I was 11. Seems like a pretty good age to me.

Never. Cheerleaders get hurt more often than the football players. They land on their heads and spinal cord injuries are not unusual. I would not let my daughter into a cheerleading squad.

I think here they can start in like 1st grade with Pop Warner.

usually in 6th or 7th grade they start cheerleading for pop warner football

At the age they want to although I can't imagine anyone wanting to. I would say in high school myself.
