9mm is a faster round than .40 or .45. So the stopping power is as much as those. But yes 9mm would stop an attacker if needed. As for target shooting they are just as accurate in line of range shooting. 9mm though is much cheaper than 40 / 45.

Yes, the 9mm bullet is lighter.
Accuracy is a factor of the shooter and the pistol.
The more a shooter practices, the more accurate they become.
However, no amount of practice will compensate for a very bad pistol, ie front sight falls off, pieces fall off, etc.
25-40ft is about 8-13 yards. This is a very close proximity, and even the average pistol will be fairly accurate at this distance.
Caliber is not really an issue for accuracy at this range.
If you are asking about stopping power, self defense, that is a far different question.

9mm is lighter and the recoil is more manageable than the .40 or .45. I own and shoot all three calibers in competition so I do a lot a sandbag accuracy test. Sand bagging takes the shooter out of the equation and leaves only the gun.All three of mine shoot nearly the same at 25 and 50 yards. The 9mm is even a plastic gun. The big decider will be you. Do you want to feel the power of the bigger recoil bullets or the lighter less expensive one.

Go with the .45, Most shootings occur within 7 yards and it's only 20 feet to my bedroom door, at that range you should be able to hit whatever your aiming at...and the .45 is going to have a whole lot more punch than the 9mm, I wouldn't want to get hit with either but I own both as well as a 40 and .a .380 when things go bump in the night I reach for the .45. If you just want to target practice buy your self a nice .22 much cheaper to shoot, Sig make a couple but I like their Trailside.

A 9mm is lighter, but only the shooter can make it more accurate. It really depends on the experience of the shooter and the type of gun being used for each type of round.

Yes the cartridge itself is lighter. As for the pistols that shoot them, you can get a light 45 pistol and you can get a heavy 9mm pistol.
The 45 will have greater accuracy potential if it's a 1911 clone. If your primary focus is target shooting, don't even fool with the 'plastic' guns.

It depends on the gun you fire it from when it comes to accuracy, 9mm does not drop as much since it is lighter so your up/down might be better but the gun and powder burn still effect the left/right accuracy.

yes a 9mm is lighter than the others. however accuracy depends on the gun it is being shot from and the shooter shooting it.
there are too many variables involved to properly answer the second part of your question.

u mean the recoil is lighter? definitely... for accuracy... i don't think its more accurate... some may say its more accurate coz they have spent more time practicing with the 9mm due to the cheaper cost of bullets. for accuracy, it all depends on the shooter.

It's lighter by any measure. More accurate is a different topic. 45 ACP is known for its accuracy in the right pistol, but it is harder to shoot, so if you're not used to handling the big boys, you're probably going to shoot a milder cartridge better.
