I would say no.- I'd say no one is looking forward to being put out of work by a foreigner.
My father-in-law is a trucker and he is pretty hot that government would even consider such a thing.
I'd say that if the they ever do allow these trucks on the road in America- the truckers will handle it in their own way and it won't be pretty.
Quite frankly, I'd be willing to bet local law enforcement wasn't exactly thrilled with the idea either- and they could definitely make life difficult for anybody they don't want on the road.

No. We are told that illegal immigrants do the jobs that Americans don't want. Legal immigrants do all sorts of jobs, sometimes including ones Americans don't want, sometimes ones for which there aren't enough qualified Americans and sometimes just normal jobs. There has long been a special visa to allow foreign companies with US subsidiaries to bring employees over easily, and this is really not much different. The Mexican trucking rules being debated is not to allow Mexican trucks to go from point-to-point within the USA, but between a point in Mexico and a point in the USA. As long as they meet the same safety standards, this will save a lot of money that is now wasted in transferring goods from one truck to another.

Unless they can meet EVERY single standard that is put on a CITIZEN trucker and that includes being able to read and speak English and pass an American driving test and have proper insurance...you get the picture

Lillian: "It's only Mexico that the Teamsters have had a lock on. Mexican..."
Then God bless the Teamsters! First good piece of union news I've heard in a long time. Last I heard, the AFL-CIO was fighting *for* illegal immigrants' working rights. Makes no sense to me, considering that one of the bases of a Union is to have a limited workforce.

Dam valid point there sir. Thou this has been happening for years. Driver from the two other countries, pull a load into our country that requires a lot of permit. Thus allowing them to pull smaller loads around the country until their permits are ready.
