It's possible as you do the inside edge for entrance, when you turn, you are letting your free shoulder trail back and the free leg is too open and back (that's why it's making you turn to do a 3 turn instead of spinning).
Can you do a change foot spin? Do a one foot spin and then put your other foot down to do a back one foot spin - transfering your weight to spin on that other foot (this way you get the feeling of the back spin). Once you can do that pretty well, you can do a push off on that inside edge instead of just putting it down to give you more force to spin. The push off will give you the feeling of what any entrance should feel like for the back spin. Practicing change foot may help because you're already spinning and when you switch to back spin, you just continue spinning - so hopefully that will help to already put your shoulders and hips in place.
I was also taught to cross immediately (arms too, tightly) when the turn happens after the inside edge. It kinda forces the hips and shoulders to be in the right place or else you fall out of the spin (in crossed position, you quickly learn you have no choice!). Just make sure you transfer all that weight in order to keep centered and balanced.
Hope that helps!

Go ahead and keep practicing. What edge are you trying to turn into the spin on? I would suggest trying the opposite edge or trying a change foot spin so that you will be able to have more of a "running start" into the spin which can make it easier. Good luck!

okay. which way do you turn.
i go clockwise i think i am a righty so(about u) if you do to try this
performed in the same rotation sense as a forward spin, but on the opposite foot. Most right-handed skaters spin counterclockwise, doing a forward spin on the left foot and a back spin on the right foot. Somewhat confusingly, a forward spin is usually done on a shallow backward inside edge and a back spin on a shallow forward outside edge. Occasionally you will see skaters flipping a forward spin onto a strong forward outside edge or a back spin onto a strong backward inside edge, which is considered to add difficulty to the spin.
try doing this

Just keep practicing. Mine went from nothing to a bunch of 3-turns, and then it finally went to one real revolution. Focus on spinning over your little toe (this will help keep you from flipping onto an inside edge). Also, don't try to hold your free leg out yet. Just pull it in immediately to keep the spin small and to keep your balance.
You can also try different entrances. 1) the right inside 3-turn entrance (if you spin CCW), 2) try doing it from a stand-still, 3) try doing it from a back inside pivot (with the right toe being your pivot foot, if you spin CCW).
This spin is really hard to learn because it feels so awkward. Just keep working on it & it will come. It took me about 4 months to go from a 3-turn to getting 2-3 revolutions consistently.

You are probably doing 3 turns because you arent centered over your skating foot. Traveling 3 turns are good, but I dont think you are ready for them yet. When you whip around, keep your leg extended to center. Then, slowly pull in your arms and legs in a crossed position. This should speed up your rotation. Bend your skating knee slightly, and pull your shoulders down, and look up. Pretend there is a string traveling all through your right side and pulling you up.
When you are ready to check out, lift your leg and kick out.
Good luck!
