I hear a lot of African American slang words (on TV mainly), I can work out most of them, but "Church" completely baffles me?? Two African americans will be speaking, one will make a statement, and the other will reply with "Church"...

Just like Snoop Dogg says "Take it to the Church" or when he says "Preach", they rarely say "Amen" (sounds old-fashioned to some): it's just a way to say that they're speaking the truth, no matter what the consequences. It's a synonim of "Fo' Shizzle" (if you're into Snoop Dogg-slang! lol)

It's not "african american english", it's slang, like someone else said. But, used in that context, it can mean "you're right" or "I'm telling the truth". If it's a question, like "word?!", it can mean "are you serious?".

it's a reply to mean that they are right or that they totally agree with that, it's just another reply of the AMEN.
