Oooo, that sounds so good. Sorry, but I have no idea where to get one in London. I wish I could find one in Germany, but they don't have rootbeer here.

The closest thing to root beer in the UK is either the Scottish Daneloin and Burdock drink from Tizer, as one or more have siad the traditional root beer we have here in North America, does not fit the UK or Euopean taste, and even to have someone ship you a 6 pack of cans, it would be expensive and maybe explosive, the pressure of the cans in transit could be a bit unpredictable.

Try the D and B with a good vanilla ice cream, you might be surprised, otherwise have a coke or pepsi one instead, we here in Canada use it along with orange fizzy drinks, or something else you may have seen in the US, Cream Soda, ours here in Canada is bright red.

Someone else was mentioning that they couldn't get root beer in the UK of GB and NI.

You may have to make your own root beer. One of the ingredients is sassafras root, and in the US, that cannot be shipped interstate without special treatment because it's carcinogenic. There's a Pappy's sassafras tea liquor (which is to say it's a syrup, not something alcoholic) for people who want to make sassafras tea, but I don't know how well it works in making root beer.

Shanks Extracts offers a 4 ounce bottle of root beer extract for $2.16 USD, which makes about 5 gallons of root beer. It's fairly good, and the company is local to me, been around since the 19th century, with an exemplary reputation for quality and honesty. I've never ordered through their site, so I can't speak for that. They also have a birch beer extract, which you really oughta try as well. It's wonderful.

Not true about not finding root beer over seas. I am an American In Koln Germany and we have store that specifically sells foreign cuisine such as in Koln we have " the English shop" it sells British, irish,Scottish, and thank Goddess American food. so I am able to get root beer, Dr pepper and grape jelly and Pop Tarts. Look into your local stores, I found the english shop by typing "english food in Koln" and also ask the manager of your local stores alot of times they can order things for you. I know the one in Koln also does mail order but I am sure if you look you will find one in your local area.
