Usually linseed oil, and various pigments, which are still mostly gathered from the earth, meaning minerals. Some companies use synthetic pigments to save money. Some companies use a mix of both. You can gather rocks and minerals on a hike and make some of your own paints, it's a point of pride for some artists' to create their own paints. I have a cousin who does that.

Paint is made out of basically 3 things.
A medium
A pigment
A solvent

Oil paint is Oil (linseed oil or an oil derivative) and (depending on the color you want) a pigment and some turpentine.

Acrylic paint is acrylic with (again) pigment and water.

It is, as it says, oil-based. It takes a long time to dry but is more durable and lasts longer than any other paint for artist`s paintings.
