Because Britain has become far too politically correct. People are scared too speak out for what they believe in in case they are labelled racist.

If you're talking about YA, it may just be because they are. As nontarzan points out, many people refuse to accept that people of their own race emigrate to the UK.
Why not ask yourself a second question. Why is that when someone mentions immigration, it immediately comes down to race? How about the grown up comment made above, "Maybe tis cos ise be black".
Have a scroll through all of the answers above and look at the number of those who have said it is all the fault of political correctness, that good old catch-all for any argument which counters the unsupported claims about immigration. Political correctness? Really? What has political correctness got to do with New Zealand, South African, Polish, Azerbaijani or Slovakian immigration to this country?
No-one posting on YA immigration gets labelled a racist easily and I've seen contributors with completely opposing immigration views get on just fine whilst posting opposite views to the same question. But well-reasoned and statistically/factually supported arguments are frequently lacking by those who claim that immigration to this country is out of control. Statements like duck surprise makes, "There are too many immigrants in the UK for our social services to cope with. FACT." But not a URL or figure to support this 'fact'.

I too get embroiled in this touchy subject and,in reality, I am now at a stage where I do not know what to think or say because I have worn myself out complaining about immigration and racism. Sometimes I admit that I can be a bigot but I would never harm anyone in a physical way. However, human beings will always be at each others throats no matter what day and age we live in but let's do leave the Poles alone because they really did pull us out of the Cack in world war two when many of them flew with the RAF.
Wouldn't it be the biz if things were fair all round and we could all enjoy a bit of peace. Oh such sweet daydreams,eh.

The problem here is : people who are against immigration to the UK usually shoot themselves in the foot by ranting on about 'bloody foreigners', usually who are seen to be 'threatening our way of life' - using emotive terms like this loses the argument for you right away. If you want to make a case against immigration you must stick to facts and statistics or you will be written off as a Little Englander.

Firstly, it is because it makes people very uncomfortable to hear it, whether it is true, or not.
Secondly, because if a person IS racist, it is the first thing out of their mouths, before they move on to less defensible positions.
So when all the racists say "too many immigrants!!" and along comes a reasoned economist / social demographer who says the same thing, they tar him with the same brush.
However, in the final analysis, I don't think there are too many immigrants. I think there are too many of the wrong kind. What is needed are the educated, motivated, immigrants who intend to integrate.

There is nothing racist about stating that Britain has too many imigrants this is proven fact.... What is wrong is when people wrongly associate the term 'immigrant' with muslim people illegally entering the country, sponging off the state and trying to blow us all up. This is not always the case. I admit i was once of this view myself until i studied sociology as an A Level and was asked what country i thought took the most imigrants and from what country. I immediately replied that Britain has the highest immigrant rate from people from Afganistan and Iraq and places like that. I very surprised to find that in fact America and Australia have the highest number of immigrants and that the highest majority of immigrants are actually British people leaving for these two countries. It just made me think about how people sterotype immigrants and the stigma attached to the term when actually when we sit down and look at facts us British are the worst for it yet we dont criticize ourselves for emmigrating!!

Fear. There is something radically wrong when the truth cannot be spoken. I have friends of many origins and they say the same thing to me. There are just too many people coming into the country. The infrastructire will not stand up to it. Even the word "racist" has now become a "throwaway" term.

Because our Government are stupid and backward, they hide behind the racist issue, and people that are born and bred in the UK get penalised for any kind of racist remark.
Our Gov need to wake up to the needs of there own people, imigrants that come to this country who work and pay there way and dont use religion as an excuse are very welcome, but the rest that abuse our system and use the racist issue to there own benefit should be deported without question.

Because it is, what is the problem really British people go to Spain to live and other places around the med. you don't see Moroccan people shouting "get rid of them British immigrants they are taking our housing buying our property and putting up the prices to us" "send them home to Britain now." "What good have they done for our country they don't work they just live on their retirement are the sale of their houses in Britain."
not from Morocco but that is just what the British and Irish are saying now about immigrants.
besides i detest this idea of borders and nations. what are they but the disgraceful feudal ideal still living on.
Nation states are just a way of making some rich people richer and that is all.
One world one currency and all able to move where we want to is what man kind should be.
we will need to move fairly soon when the global warming hits hard. its and irritating truth but its the truth.

Because unfortunately Britain is full of liberal idiots who think the human rights act is the best thing ever.
Most of us with any common sense are leaving for pastures new (myself included when I finish my Nurse training).
I have no problem with skilled proffessionals that benefit a country moving anywhere they like. It's the sponging 'the world owes me a living' people, who unfortunately make up the vast majority of immigrants I have met, I can't stand.
So that just leaves the unskilled immigrants, the unemployed chavs and criminals, and the wooly minded liberal morons left in this country. Won't it be a great place in 10 years time?
