Basically, I want to know if there is any difference in the sizing. Is it possible to easily remove panels from a non-integrated dishwasher to make it fit under a worktop? Surely no one has a dishwasher freestanding (i.e. not hidden uner a worktop) in their kitchen? Or is it the width that's different?

Hi - How deep are your worktops, front to back? I have refitted my kitchen and used 650mm deep worktops instead of the stansard 600mm. This has enabled me to re-use existing free-standing appliances AND fit doors to cover them. Not all makes/ranges of worktop are available in 650mm.
The panels are an integral part any appliance and your chances of removing them satisfactorily, without causing problems, are, unfortunately, zero.

As long as it fits under your work space area, you should have no problems. Dishwashers come with flexible fittings now days, so they are easier to fit. Have a great day.

It will be very snug sliding in a freestanding washer, but it can be done (with care). You won't be able to put a door in front of it.
