I'm not sure that you could walk a mile slow enough to average 1 mile per hour. You could probably crawl a mile in that time.

3 - 4.5 is walking. 3mph being a comfortable walk. 4.5mph being a very brisk pace.

4.5 - 6mph is jogging

6mph and up is running.

This is just my idea of the difference between walking, jogging and running, but everyone goes at a difference comfortable pace.

slow as H3ll. Think about it. 1 mile per hour means after running for an hour you only finished a mile. Boys in middle school run a mile in like under 10 minutes. Almost everyone can walk a mile in less than half an hour so it technically you wouldnt be running if your going 1 mile per hour you would be taking baby steps. Sprinting would be considered like 7mph for most people. more or less. just replace the word per with "in a" so running 3 miles in a hour would be a decent number.

Slow for 1 and 2. 3 you are doing better. Many folks are to lazy and too physically unfit to even complete a one mile walk. Your goal for the mile should be 7 minutes after months of training. Keep in mind going 1 mile per hour would have you complete the mile in 60 minutes. 3 miles per hour is faster but not a "running" speed. Good luck and keep exercising!

You are technically running when both feet are off the ground in between steps.

Just think about it:
1mph-60 minutes
2mph-30 minutes
3mph-20 minutes
4mph-15 minutes
5mph-12 minutes
6mph-10 minutes
7mph-8 minutes, 30 seconds
and so on....

If you're going 1 mph, you're not running, you're walking... slowly. The average person's walking pace is about 3 mph. Top marathon runners average about a 5 minute mile, which is 12 mph.
