DJ,

I don't refer to eating meat.

I am talking about how they treat a family pet, a stray dog, a hungry cat, etc.

This is not an absolute people, as there are exceptions to every rule, this is merely a loose guideline.

Without a doubt.

Yes, I do absolutely believe that.

The way people treat animals, those who are less powerful and the humble things of life is something to watch for as it shows what a person thinks and feels deep inside themselves.

Cheers :-)

Edited to say: I meant if a person treats animals well OR badly, it tells a lot about that person. But not everything! Of course you also have to look at other aspects of their behaviour!

I'd say the way they treat people is a good way to judge somebuddy's charecter. I've seen some crappy people out there who treat animals better than humans. So go figure. Love in Christ, ~J~

I think it can be a very good indicator of a person's true character, but of course there are exceptions-some will be wonderful to their animals but cruel to their fellow human beings.

I have heard this said for many years. I believe it to be true, unless that person has a fear of dogs/cats, then you can expect a different answer.

Doubtful, I love rib-eyes and am quite fond of bacon.

Edit I truly understood your question but these are God's animals just the same. I believe there is a vast difference in the treatment of an animal and the character of man and how he treats his fellow man.

Yeah, I'd say so.

People I've known who have been cruel or neglectful towards animals generally aren't good people, while those who are kind to animals ARE.

Absolutely. I think it is one of the best ways to judge a person's character.

the righteous man is interested in the welfare of animals.-Proverbs. in my opinion, the way someone treats anyone-human or animal- is an excellent way to assess their character.
