The reason is simple, Asian soldiers are smarter than me. I may have scored high on my ACT and have a college GPA of 3.3 but I was still too stubborn to sign up for anything other than Infantry. As an infantryman I have noticed that there are few Asians on the front line, and most are in the support services.
We do have a good sized amount of Asian soldiers, however I can't tell you why they don't win the reporters time.

Most foreign members of the US Military are in the US Navy.
The Philippines mainly but there are several other countries that are allowed to join the Navy without American citizenship.
As far as Asian members there are tons in the Navy as well. I have met several Koreans (Naturalized Citizens) serving in the US Navy.
Have to say At first I was leery of Non US citizen serving in the US military but after serving along side them I wouldn't have it any other way.

the military is propotional to the population as a whole see the percentages below but there was a show on not too long ago about a asian medic that was killed by an IED and I think it was on CNN

Currently I am deployed in Iraq. Every morning when I to breakfast, I usually sit across from a full bird colonal, who just so happens to be asian. No asian's in the military? I don't think you are looking closely at the big picture.

I'm one of those messed up born Asians(not smart, more athletic than smart, almost completely American or strongly believes they are Caucasian and not Asian.) so I can safely say this. They are all in college, in a court room, messing with wires, opening a person up, making a person's mouth bleed using utensils, handing out medical drugs, checking your vision, making a computer software, you name it.

Not true. My soldier is career military and Asian. Also, some of the other men in his group are.

I served with Asians while in the Marines. Good Marines and Soldiers can be found in any racial group.
