Just recently I woke up and I had a cold sore on the inside of my upper lip. I usually have a cold sore on the inside of lip if I would accidently bite it. But sometimes just for no reason it would appear on its own? Sometimes only one or two. Is this normal or something else?

I;m guessing this is a canker sore on my lip in the inside of my mouth. Not a cold sore.

If you bite your lip - its an ulcer!!! A cold sore is caused by a virus that's in your system for the rest of your life and can form at anytime.

Yes, I get those too and they suck. Just be glad it's on the inside of your lip and NOT on the outside. Once you have the virus it's always there, and can be passed to someone else if the come in direct contact with the sore (kissing). But otherwise, you can't give it or get it. 80% of people have it, so it's not unusual or anything. Just put some medicine on it.

Cold sores dont come from biting your lip. If you bit your lip, you would have a sore , yes. But if its a true cold sore, its actually a form of Herpes, called Herpes Simplex. There are over the counter medications for cold sores. It is NOT Genital Herpes.

The cold sore virus lies dormant until something activates it, like sunlight, cold, being run down etc etc. Biting your lip has nothing to do with it!

cold sores are caused by a virus. not by biting your lip.
although, biting your lips might have introduced the virus.

IF YOU FEEL THE COLD SORE COMING ON.....(IT USALLY ITCHES) GET A CUBE OF ICE AND PUT IT ON IT TILL IT MELTS. IT WILL FREEZE THE VIRUS 95% OF THE TIME AND WILL NOT COME UP. IF IT COMES ON AT NIGHT....ITS USALLY TO LATE....GOTTA CATCH IT WHEN ITS FIRST COMING ON TO FREEZE IT. THIS WORKS FOR ME AND ALOT OF PEOPLE I KNOW THAT GETS THEM REGULAR. TRY IT!
