All of my life I have heard people say that something is better than sliced bread. Now, I understand that sliced bread is a nifty thing. I mean, you take it out of the package and it's ready for a sandwich! How great is that? Nevertheless, what was the best thing before sliced bread?

It is hard to decide what is considered the best thing by the largest number ratio of homo-sapiens. The simplest hypothesis would be, then, that the "best" or preeminent apparatus would be a knife, for cutting the bread to make ones own sliced bread.

hahahaha... hope this answers ur q.. but the fruits and vegges are the best

You've never noted the sarcastic tone in which "best thing since sliced bread" is usually stated? That's because sliced bread was NOT an improvement. Unsliced bread tastes better and remains soft longer.
