If they can do everything a man can do without lowering the standards I'm all for it. But not if they have to lower the standards.

Ahhh did i get voted down because you don't think women shouldn't be on the front lines or you believe women should have lower standards? Speak up boy.

Current fitness standards would filter out quite a few women from serving in the infantry, but they can pass with enough work - during recruit training, some of the girls in my platoon scored higher on the final fitness test than most of the infantry applicants.

It'd be great! More women would feel compelled to join, there'd be less of a manpower shortage, they'll bring certain aptitudes to a team with them (best shooter in my platoon was a band corps girl) and maybe I can get more buddies to hang around with. I don't care about traditional values or old customary perceptions of women, treat everyone equally I say... was there not a time when black men weren't allowed to be armored vehicle crew, infantrymen or US Marines?

Why can't the population spare a few hundred thousand extra women to fight on the front lines? There's no reason to go around raising children if you'd rather be a full time soldier, and it certainly doesn't help that the world is overpopulating.

Im a 20 year old black female serving in Iraq as of right now.Ive been here for 12 months and since Ive been here, female soldiers stand beside male soldiers when a mission has to be completed.I think that with the training the Army gives to the soldiers, anyone is capable of carrying a gun and firing at the enemies.Because when you're on the battlefront, you have to take out the insurgent before they take you out.

I'm against it. There are different standards for women in the military. If they were held at the same standard as men and could actually PASS, then I would be for it. But they're not required to do as much on their PT tests, and MOST women are not equipped to be in the front lines.

If they can handle it, I am all for it. I know many tough women who would kick some butt on the battle field.

I think it's a little bit hypocritical that they would have the right to choose. Some women want the best of all worlds.

While I hate to take away a woman's choice in any matter, I think this is one where we should have no choice. I'm sorry, ladies...maybe I'm just a little old fashioned, but I don't know of any woman (and I have some incredibly strong women in my life) that is equipped to handle combat life. Nor do I know why any woman would want to.

This is just my opinion, of course...but I say we leave the fighting those best equipped to handle it...the men.

hell I've known some bad *** women that i would take into combat any day of the week the Israelis did it intellectually I'm all for it but i don't know when they are badly wounded what the gut reaction would be. however they are in combat even if they are flying a desk remember in my war (desert storm) there was several killed in the barracks when a scud hit it

If the women placed in combat units are up to the physical demands then I'd have no problems with it. As far as I know, no military service has lowered its physical requirement standards just so more women can get into combat units (..unlike some police and fire departments that do just that..)

they cant do it by military law, but in this war the attacks can happen anywhere and they are apart of convoys that come under attack at anytime so they are fighting and shooting. i have no problem with a woman fighting at my side, and no prejudices about them being weaker or any of that bullshit. Ive seen some pretty weak and whiny guys in my time in the army.

But
i think with the horrors of war, well

women are the primary person raising our kids and don't need that kind of crap that comes with battle

just my opinion

I think of the enemy, the same as they think of us. their life is no more important than anyone else's. They fly planes and kill 3000 civilans, We pick out the bad guys and shoot em. We are even nicer when it comes to killing, what a shame.

I think a woman can do the same job that a man can do. I have seen some woman that can do a lot more than a man.
