People just don't want their journey to end.

I am looking forward to not having to toil and work for the rest of my life.

I don't think that fear is the right word. Disbelieve is more like it. I don't fear death. I'm not going to say that I welcome it or that I want to die right away, but I don't fear it. I know that a FAR better place awaits me and through Jesus, I am going to go there. If there were nothing after death, would mean that Jesus died for a lesser reason. If there were nothing after death I don't think there would be very many Christians and few Church's. The Bible is the word of God and the word of God teaches that there is life after death. The religions that I know of all teach this truth.

we don't fear the thought that there is nothing after death. If its just oblivion, then no problem. But we believe that there is a life after this one and we want to be on the right side of the Lord when that time comes.

Altho I prefer the word "faithful" instead of "religious", I am that.

I certainly do NOT "fear the thought of there being nothing after death". After death, there is the kingdom of heaven and the closeness with the one true God. I am assured of the salvation of my eternal soul and I know that I will be in God's presence. HOW is that "nothing". How can that be fearful?

If a religious person fears there being nothing after death then obviously they have no faith in God and do not believe he exists.

I have no 'fear' of that at all. If there's nothing, what's to fear?

Just as I have no 'fear' that someday 2+2 will NOT equal 4. If it turns out it didn't who cares; but it is so far outside the realm of reality as to be silly to comtemplate!

I am a Christian, but I do not have this fear.

I would think it would be much more frightening to fear that there is life after death, and that I was not ready to face it.

From what we can observe, being nothing after death (non existent) is most likely. However religion is beyond observation.

For Christians, it represents hope, hope for eternal life.

I don't know why religious people would fear that. Maybe religion doesn't do it for them. They should try to get to know Jesus. Then stuff like that just goes away. At least it did for me!

Somebody is terribly mistaken. It's non-believers that perish eternally. We Christians NEVER DIE!

Rev 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Jhn 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

Jhn 11:26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.
