it is true, but the thing is that it is sometimes very difficult to excercise for the duration of time needed to burn the calories you have consumed. I am sure that there are not so many people who can do vigorous excercise for an hour or even more.

So it helps but be careful with the amounts of food you eat.

The problem is you need to get the balance right. You need to burn off 3,600 calories to lose a pound in weight. That is about 5 hours on the treadmill and a moderate jog or 3 1/2 hours on the cross-trainer at high resistance!

By excerising you WILL burn calories, but it could take up to 24 hours for that ice cream to be digested. So, whatever calories you burn now will come back later when the ice cream is digested and the nutrients are metabolized by the body. Because we always eat, calories are always being used as energy, or stored as fat. Key is to balance what you take in with what you take out.

A pound equals 3500 calories. If you eat 3500 calories more than what you need or burn off by doing any form of movement, then you gain a pound. To lose that pound, you need to either exercise and burn 3500 calories or eat a diet that is much less in calories than you are currently eating until you have lost the 3500 calories and you then lose the pound. There is no other way. Certain exercises burn more calories than others but you still have to count calories to gain and to lose.

it depends how much you excersize afterwards. you'd need to burn all the calories in the ice cream which may take some time and effort. it's definatly possible though. just don't do it too soon after you've eaten it's bad for your digestion system.
