OK, so I know that soda is the worst enemy of mine an my weight issues. I've gone through high school and college fluctuating my weight from 155 to 180. Now I'm at my heaviest ever, 195 : (.
I know the biggest culprit of mine is soda, but it's so good and 'adictive' to me. My husband recently found some pics from his photog class fourish years ago. And OMG, I was about 160 then and thought I was fat, but looking at it from todays perspective, I want to be there again, happy and healthier.
I consume about a 20 oz per day (averaging over a week period) How can I get myself to cut it out, or limit it extremely in my diet.
Please don't give me "drink more water instead", "just don't" type answers. It's a real issue for me and I need some tricks, inspirations, substitutes (but never diet sody, UCK!).
Thanks in advance for all the serious and truthful answers.

Soda can just as addictive as anything else. When I take my girlfriend out to breakfast she orders a soda to drink, if she doesn't she'll get a headache.
My suggestion is to limit yourself on your daily intake of soda. You can purchase the smaller cans that most soda companies put out now, order a small soda when you go out to eat or you can check out organic soda, Steaz makes a bunch of different varieties, I have tried the rootbeer and orange myself and they were pretty good.
You can also use soda as a reward for sticking to your diet.
What it comes down to is how bad you want it.
Personally I use quotes to motivate me when I need to stick to something like going to the gym.
One I like is "I choose my own destiny".
It is also good to have support from loved ones and friend, not nagging, but motivational.
Hope this helps.

Maybe if you understand the reality of what the soda is doing to you, you may decide that your health is more important than the soda. If your doctor told you that if you continue to drink that much soda a day you will become a Type 1 Diabetic if you aren't already on the verve of being it, would you quit then? If you were told by your doctor that your stomach is so bad that before you reach the age of ?? you will have stomach cancer or bleeding ulcers from all that soda would you quit to prevent that? If you knew that for every soda that you drink, it depleates double that amount of water from your system so that your brain which needs the water the most steals it from your other organs at an alarming rate so that it can maintain a proper solution around itself and therefore your other organs are showing definite signs of wear and tear, would it scare you enough to quit? I hope so because every single statement above is the truth. Good luck at showing some self control.

try seltzer It still has the carbonation but without the calories and sugar. Another option is sparking water. Highly flavored seltzer that is sweet but has no sugar, carbs, and calories. One more option is flavored water. The taste is milder but it also has no calories or very little. Also there are a bunch of fruit based sodas out now that are tasty. Like IZZY they come in a bunch of flavors and are healthy enough to be served in schools
I use to drink way more soda then you. I replaced it with seltzer. I only have seltzer at home and i allow myself soda out if i want.
Once you get rid of soda you barely miss it. I feel better without the soda and i lost 3 lbs in two weeks
Good luck on your weight loss journey and i hope that this helped

Try switching to Flavored water that contains carbonation. It is actually quite good, Very little calories(sometimes Zero calories) and with the carbonation it feels like you are still drinking soda. I know walmart sells it. I usually get it when I am on one of my diets which I should be on now but i don't want to start.....maybe tomorrow I will start...or maybe not....you know the drill.....diets are tough I'm always procrastinating.
then you can gradually switch from this to flavored water perhaps. It all about taking baby steps so that there is no great shock to your system otherwise you will go back to doing what you were doing.

i cut soda out of my diet too for the most part... i find juices to be my life saver... they still taste good but aren't bad for you (the ones that aren't loaded with sugar at least!). i replaced my soda addiction with an apple juice addiction, LOL. try some different teas or juices, go to an organic health store too so you aren't getting all the gross stuff that comes with giant corporation names... also i know it kinda sucks sometimes but please drink as much water as you can! it is imperative to your health, and you'll start FEELING awesome within a few days! i like to get the water bottles with the sippy thing on the top, they seem easier for me to drink for some reason. also vitamin water is great! loaded with all kinds of vitamins and nutrients and tastes great too! they have lots of different flavors.

Sugar is the bad stuff we crave as women.
Go to GNC and ask for the supplement that takes sugar cravings away. Then, maybe cut back soda intake.
Try Propel the energy drink, it's good for you.Juices
if they are real fruit juice.Teas are really good
the decaffeinated ones.Good luck.We all do bad things.
I believe more exercise and less soda may do the trick.

what do you want us to say? that you can drink soda and still lose the weight? i mean, really? do you want to lose wieght? because it sounds like you're saying, "i'm overweight because i drink a lot of soda, but i'm too stubborn to let it go, so how can i still lose weight?" I stopped drinking soda and drank lots of water. when i wanted soda, i drank diet soda. I lost 60lbs. I honestly don't know what you want to hear, drink less soda or not at all!
