www.vegweb.com has tons of vegan recipes. I think they have a section of kids' foods.

The Vegan Lunchbox blog is a mom's account of what she makes her school-age son for lunch. Some of the things might work for a younger child. She also has a cookbook based on the lunches.

"How it All Vegan!" by Sarah Kramer and Tanya Barnard has a section aimed at kids, and "Vive Le Vegan" by Dreena Burton has a section on vegan nutrition for children.

You can spread nut butter on celery sticks and dot it with raisins for a great snack/light meal. Hummus with veggies (or with pita bread--but read the ingredients) is also good. A PBJ is the universal kids' sandwich.

There are soy ice creams at many natural foods stores or a Whole Foods. Or you could give him a sorbet as a nice dessert (make sure it's sorbet, and NOT sherbet, as sherbet has dairy).

If a recipe calls for sour cream or cream cheese, Tofutti makes excellent alternatives. Tofutti, in fact, is geared toward the lactose intolerant. Many of their products are vegan, but do check the label to make sure there are no eggs.

There are numerous soy cheeses out there, but many have casein (a dairy protein), so watch for that if it's dairy allergy and not just lactose intolerance.

If he has cereal, you can put soy milk, rice milk, or almond milk on it. Whole Soy & Company makes vegan yogurts. Silk also makes a soy yogurt, but I think they use shared machinery.

I know a lot of the stuff I recommended is vegan, but that's because many people who avoid dairy and eggs also avoid eating meat.

Good luck!

I have a nearly 2 year old boy. Marzipan is one of his favorite foods: he's underweight so the nutrition is o.k. for him, but maybe too much sugar for normal babies...

1/2 pound blanched almonds, ground super fine in processor
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
1/8 tsp salt (optional)
a few drops lemon extract (optional)

Mix together--tastes like raw almond cookie dough, but safe to eat. Tastes REALLY delicious.

My daughter had distinctive foodstuff intolerances. We used to apply buckwheat (buckwheat isn't related to wheat) flour. We made our very own bread, which grow to be somewhat sticky and heavy, yet she liked it. We have been in Sydney on the time and o.k. supported. Then we got here to uk and it grow to be dreadful; we've been on our very own. We extensively utilized potato flour - you do no longer point out a difficulty with potatoes....
