Aw, honey. Your post both breaks my heart and gives me so much hope. It breaks my heart because I can't imagine what you went through --- and it gives me hope because it is proof that Jesus can take a broken life and make it beautiful again. That's what He does for all of us, thanks for reminding me. I've never been homeless, but trust me, you have a companion in Jesus:
From Isaiah 53:
He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief.
Matthew 8:
20And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head."

I have been homeless. When me and my brother was around 5 and 6, me, him and my mom stayed in a tent in someones yard. My dad was abusive and almost killed my mom. He left the house and and locked her in but she got out of a window and went to the neighbors house and used their phone. So she finally got away and they divorced but my dad sold our house so we didn't have anywhere to stay. When they went to court the judge asked where we were staying and she told him... and he put us in state custody and into foster homes.
That's done and over now... Right now I live in the projects and I have a daughter and my brother is staying with our aunt and my mom has a lot to be thankful for. I could tell you some stories. But I think I learned a lot from my life and even tho it was hard I wouldn't change it.

i am so sorry you were put in that situation
i have been homeless too and been through some horrible experiences - somehow folks think it is OK to abuse you just because you are down on your luck in life
thankfully i was never robbed or raped and did have a few friends who weren't much better off than i was who did what they could for me
i actually found that those who i THOUGHT were my friends before all that happened turned on me - those who were living as couples in 3 bedroom places (who could have helped in a practical way) didn't even raise a finger.
so when i WAS back on my feet again - those were the ones that tried to leak their way back into my life again ............... and found the way barred to them, much to their chagrin.
i found healing in the bible too - and a few select key relationships where each had a part to play in the next stage of my healing as time went on. many of those who were the most helpful to me were those who either had or have had various problems themselves and wanted to make a difference in another persons life because they knew how bad it could get. so whatever you have been through can be the basis of what you can do to help others because you can understand them in a unique way.
BTW i am now happily married for 15 years and have a family of my own including 4 cats

I've been through it. It was brought on by my own bad choice in an abusive man and alcohol abuse. I wouldnt wish it on anyone and I'm glad we both survived. I went another route in the religion category but I do have spirituality like you do and thats the only reason I'm not bitter today. Good luck to you.

I've never been homeless, but I know what it's like to be threatened w/ foreclosure because money was so tight I couldn't make the payments. God is good & His mercies are new every morning. You keep holding on tight to your faith. "The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those that trust in Him." Nahum 1:7

i have been, i lived in a redwood tree for a while in santa cruz... not only did i have to worry about cracked out bums, but mountain lions sneaking up on me at night too...
i now am back with my boyfriend living in a lovely apartment, because i took it upon myself to do something about it and do better in my life, i got myself into that rut and it was my own responsibility to dig myself out and i did it.
i'm learning to enjoy life again by opening my eyes and seeing the beauty that is earth and life around me. appreciating the small things and setting goals for myself. no bible needed.
