we don't eat "all night"...we only can eat from time the sun sets..[Maghrib time] and until 5am depending really where you live...but we don't eat during that whole time...what we do when we break our fast is have a light appetizer and then pray, once we finish our prayer we go and have a meal..usually a rice dish...some have dessert afterwards some don't. not many Muslim's snack much after that we usually carry on reading the Quran and getting ready for the next prayer...and then sleep wake up again to eat a light breakfast before 5am and then fast until sunset..we do that for 30 days...so what is "silly" or "hypocritical" about that?..
and we are not violent people...the extremist are...and Islam is not an extremist religion...

Nothing is sillier than a person speaking without being well informed!!!
Since many of the the responders have already set you straight...I won't bother.
Whatever you read about a "moon god" was not from any of the holy books. Someone should monitor your reading material so that you don't increase your ignorance.
The country of Israel has its own god??? Or is that Israel as in Jacob? What about the neighboring countries... or the rest of the world for that matter??

Their God is the same as the Christians. Their belief system is much different because of who they held to be a prophet, Muhammad. He dictated much of what the do and follow (to an extent). Just as Jesus and The Disciples led Christians into their modern day beliefs......
Muslims, in general, are not much different than anyone else with a strong belief in God. Catholics can't eat red meat on Fridays during Lent, some Southern Baptist aren't allowed to dance or drink. There are a lot of weird acts performed (or not) that are done in the name of God.
The biggest problem here is in the translation of the Bibles/Koran of these different faiths. A person that was held up to be a leader (at one time or another) translated the scriptures and skewed them somewhere along the way and came up with a ritual, belief, or act that just seems incredibly silly. For example, a story in the bible speaks of a man who was to impregnate his wife, by order of God, and masturbated instead, wasting his seed. God was angry. This is why masturbation is a sin. Most religions take this as "wasting the seed is wrong, indulging in pleasure is wrong..." not "God was upset because the man disobeyed a direct order."
Its all in the translation. Who knows where this odd fasting came from. Or the beard, or "it's OK to kill as long as you do it in God's name" for the extremist in ALL religions (Thou Shall Not Kill....not.... Thou Shall Not Kill unless It Is In the Name of The Lord, Thy God.......)
I don't get it, but I do try to respect beliefs, no matter how silly the seem to me, unless it involves torturing and killing justified by God.

Why would you say that Muslims are Silly?
You'd be hard pressed to find a religion that doesn't practice some forum of fasting so then you'd be saying most of the people you know and I assume care about are also silly
fyi silliness has nothing to do with religion their are plenty of people who are silly from every religion.
and who are you to say whose god is real and whose is false

1. Their practice does not affect you. Why do you find it necessary to condemn it?
2. Their god is no more and no less likely to be false than is yours.
3. Relax. Get a life. Take a pill.

It is better than eating all day and all night. Fasting is a good idea for some Americans.

I think fasting per se is ok if it isn't mandated by a religion.
Fasting can bring a person closer to God and result in spiritual growth. It is a discipline.
But when a religion mandates it, it becomes an exercise in futility - an empty ritual.
And empty rituals do not bring people authentically closer to God.

Muslims will Pray most of the night and fast all day.
A time to acquire Taqwa.
Taqwa = God Consciousness so we feel we are in the presence of ALLAH all the time.
This state of communion and personal connection is developed through the 5 times a day prayers and the blessings of fasting in this very holy month when the Quran was revealed.
When we feel we are living as in the sight of Allah then we will be motivated to do good and ward off evil.
During Ramadhan we make special intentions to fast all day and worship most of the night.
Make intentions to remember all the Muslims and non Muslims in our prayers. We have been sent as a mercy unto mankind and keeping the heart clean of all darkness is paramount.
That is the greatest Jihad .

Your question is bigoted and self-important. Who are you to judge what is silly and what isn't? I'll thank you not to smear your ignorance on the rest of the world. I feel like I need to take a bath.....
