Go to your local bike shop and tell them. Depending on what part of the pedal is becoming loosened, it is potentially repairable. If not, platform pedals are inexpensive ($25-$35) and easily replaced w/ a pedal wrench.

Hopefully, it is still possible to tighten your pedal, but don't ride until you get it fixed. If you pedal spins loose, and falls off while riding, it is almost certain to booger the threads of your crank arm. If you strip the treads of your crank arm, there is no recovery - you must buy a new crank set and it is much more expensive than a new set of pedals.

Is it possible you are not correctly tightening your pedals? The non-drive side pedal actually tightens in the opposite direction. (This keeps it from loosening during normal pedalling action.) For the drive side, you can tighten using the right-hand rule (point your thumb in the direction you want the screw to go and turn the direction your fingers are pointing.) Use your left hand for the non-drive side.

In any case, as others have stated, it is simple to get new pedals. If you want to really improve your cycling performance, you should seriously consider clipless pedals and moutain bikiing shoes.

The reason it is loose is because you have not tightened it enough. Unfortunately, peddles need a thinner spanner than you would usually buy (£4 from bike shop). Tighten using this, perhaps put thread lock in if issue. However, it is a 5 second job for your bike shop. They will probably do it gratis, so buy a couple of energy bars to thank them.

Luck

of course if they are platform pedals and you are mountain biking, you should upgrade to some clipless pedals. basic shimano spd pedals start at around $60, but i'd suggest you get some crank brothers egg beater pedals. good design.

Platform pedals are cheap. But if you have damaged your threads on you crank arms that would be costly.
