I don't know what religion you are, so it would probably depend on that. I've been trying to consider whether a purity ring would be acceptable in Islam, and I think it would be. In Islam, it's important that everyone try to avoid physical relations before they are married. This might have been easier a long time ago, but now people are getting married later and later, so what are we supposed to do? I think a purity ring would be a smart idea; if people saw what looked like a wedding ring on our fingers, they would assume we were married and leave us alone. Also, I don't think this should have to just apply to women; men could get purity rings too, and they would have the same effect.
So go for it. I think it's a good idea, if that's what you want to do.

I think it's more of a symbol of a commitment to chastity than anything. I've never seen anyone *but* a Christian wear one but I certainly don't see why you couldn't if chastity is your choice (and it is a wonderful choice!) Personally, I don't really understand the need to advertise one's purity, but if you like them, I say get one!
As for what constitutes a purity ring, I agree with the others that you could probably get a ring you liked and call it a purity ring. You might want to google purity ring and see if there are styles that appeal to you; there are bound to be people who are making rings to satisfy that niche.

Purity Rings are not for Christians. Look up the Silver Ring Thing. That's a purity ring.

I have no real idea what the ring is suppose to imply one is pure of. If it means that you are saving yourself for the right man/marriage, then I say go on and try to get one yahoo or google "purity rings" there should be some websites that explain them and tell you where and how to get one. Best of Luck!! =)

I'm pretty sure that anyone could purchase a ring and call it a purity ring. The rings they use are not special.

They are for anyone who wants to spend their money on a fashion item in order to tell the world about their sex life.
Sorry, I just think it's rather silly, and from all the girls I've seen have one, it's also completely ineffective.
If you want to remain a virgin, just remain one.
If you want a ring, just get one.
I'm sure there are certain rings you can buy just for that purpose, but since the ring has no effect whatsoever, any ring will do.

Purity is in the heart, not in the ring.
You can claim you have a purity ring with the word purity engraved in it but if u behave like a slut, it is not pure at all. It is like those who wear a big cross and go to church yet when they open their mouth and swears.

There is no such thing a purity so why even bother wearing a purity ring. It is the same like getting married and wearing a bright white dress (which resembles purity) and having had sex before marriage.
