Before you start thinking I'm a weirdo, I live in AZ and the fire control guys have started doing controlled burns up on the mountains for the fall season. WOW, it smells SO GOOD! It's like a big fireplace or a mesquite barbecue and it's making me hungry for a charcoal grilled steak.
Luckily, we had no forest fires in my area this year--last year, there were several--and we had more rain, so the firefighters got a bit of a break. Who else lives in a fire-prone region?

Yes I do. The smell of burning wood actually has a sort of primal appeal to most people. Humans have been burning wood for a long time. Even those that think it is for some reason wrong. But, there are not many people turned off by the smell of burning wood coming from a fireplace.

Being familiar with the timber industry, forest fires smell like assets being destroyed to me.
Trees are a crop.

Sure it smells great. If you love the smell of carbon dioxide depriving your bloodstream of precious, precious oxygen, and polluting the atmosphere, while carbon monoxide makes it harder for your red blood cells to carry oxygen.
Basicly, yes, it smells good. If you like the smell of death.

I live in Reno, NV, and I think Forest fires smell great, but too much smoke can make me cough and gag.

I do like the smell, but that is bad news.
