All branches of armed service will start you at a higher rank if you are college educated before you join, the height of that rank is branch specfic and I can't remember the Marine standard but you can look it up at the Corps website.

The only way to be an officer right when joining the military is with a college degree. If you are going to join, then go through their ROTC program and get college paid for at the same time. If I where to join the Navy all over again, that's what I would do.

ROTC will guide you,
Here are some tips about being an Officer;
1. Never talk of family problems
2. Buy the newest gadget and talk about that. Example, palm pilot
3. Learn to golf, but don't golf too well.
4. Finally, when you are put in charge of a place, the first thing you should do is make it look better. Example, new paint, carpet, and cleaned. Military supervisor will assume it is running better because it looks better.
Best of luck!

any 4 year degree from an Accredited College. take NROTC for an edge.
How competitive you would be for any slot depends on factors such as GPA, and extracurricular activities in addition to what your degree is in. Go for Hard Sciences or Engineering, and do well.

Do a ROTC program, if you simply have a degree you'll have to go to ocs, and ocs candidates don't get to choose their mos, they just get to fill out a wish list and end up getting stuck in a job based on their needs, usually jobs that no one else wants.
