I am beginning to think nothing made in China is safe. I heard
today that Wal Mart pulled the flip flops made in China because they cause burning etc to people's feet. Yet what
isn't made in China these days? I picked up a trivet in my kitchen today and looked at the back of it, and ...it said, made
in China. I am going to be more careful when I buy from now on. If it concerns your child you should really check it out first.

Generally i would think most toys are OK but just recently Mattel has being recalling a lot of Sesame Street and Elmo toys which has been found to contain high lead levels. Lead is a heavy metal and when ingested by babies/children can cause damage to their nervous system and brain damage. Older homes painted in the 60's and 70's often contained lead based paints and many children's cots were coated in brightly coloured lead based paints until we discovered what this did to our children. Children biting on their cots ate small pieces of the lead based paints which then caused brain damage and nervous system damage. If you are at all worried about toys from China then don't buy them or if you already have toys made in China put them away until your child forgets about them then get rid of them. Buy locally made toys or toys produced in the country you live

Do your research first of seeing if they have lead. Lead is the high poisonous element. If you know for sure that they don't have any lead, then go ahead buy him that thomas train.

Read up on the recalls for fisher price, and Mattel I believe they only recalled certain toys.
