Would the suggestion by Senator McCain back in 2003 to use double or triple the force in Iraq at the outset would've made better results? much like the tactic used when we kicked Hussein *** from invading Kuwait. We used so much force that the revolutionary guards didn't know what hit them.

What you say is true. However; in the first war, the military dealt with a strictly military force pretty much out in the open. The war now is in an urban setting and a whole different set of ground rules because of the civilian population.

That stated, Colin Powell and the elder Bush should have allowed Gen Schwarzkopf to continue his push (as he wanted to do) and over throw Hussein at the conclusion of that war. This would all be a moot point, and the current resources could have been used after 9/11 to capture Bin Laden..........

Yes, I think more troops and a sounder strategy would have worked.

However, the initial strategy, I believe, was to actually attract insurgents and terrorists into Iraq, and have that nation act as a sort of fly paper so we could waste the terrorists in large scale numbers.

However, now it's a war of attrition and more troops could help in sealing off insurgent reinforcements.

You should read this fancy thing called the newspaper...it has a story with pretty pictures that shows Gen. Patreaus giving his analysis of the situation as well as laying out the plan for the future.

That method worked when America literally turned the city of Dresden into rubble. However; I don't suggest destroying a city to win a political war.

Well, America is generous, slow to anger and quick to forgive, limited it's power, and allowing other nations to straighten out their own problems, giving them the chance to do what's right. And only when those chances are used up does the American spirit put forth effort to stop what is wrong, and unfair and unclean.
God demands freedom of choice, and to expect it for ourselves we must also be willing to allow this for others, even our enemies.

Have you ever heard of the so-called Powell Doctrine? Maybe look that up. Use Wikipedia if you must.
