should be stamped on the bottom of the can....
or sometimes on the label somewhere...

I have been out of the grocery store business for a bit but I will try = ) If it looks like code instead of an actual date then follow this. Not all companies use this method but it may help you decipher some of the codes.
The first letter you see will represent the month....
A=January
B=February
C=March
D=April
E=May
F=June
G=July
H=August
I=September
J=October
K-November
L-December
Next set of 4 numbers is the day/year for example A2610 would be January 26th 2010. The rest of the code will be where it was made for example NYC=New York City

normally, it is stamped on the top or bottom of the can.
go and check its expiration before purchasing any canned goods.

usually it will be in month/year or year/month (12/2007 or 2007/12) with or without the slashes. Usually it will say best buy or sell by
