Take your cat to the vet tomorrow if possible. If they get the "runs" and it gets too bad they can dehydrate which is very dangerous. Plus there could be something else wrong.

I am working through this same situation currently. Do take kitty to the doctor! Most likely this is parasite-related (i.e. roundworm, tapeworm. Can you see if the kitten has any fleas? Fleas can be fatal to kittens as well as internal parasites. Get a stool sample (you vet will ask anyway). Sounds gross, I know, but will give the vet info they need to isolate the problem so they can recommend the proper course of treatment. If you have a plastic glove, put it on and then place your hand inside a baggie. When kitten goes poo-poo just put put your gloved hand with the baggie over it where the gift is and grab. Turn the baggie inside out, so your skin never comes in direct contact with the diahrrea. I put than put it in a zip-lock baggie to keep the odor in. Most likely the vet will prescribe a de-wormer and possibly an anti-biotic. She needs all the help and love and you can give her/him now! That little life you might be saving is prescious, just as you are for caring.

I agree with the others who have already answered your question. I think it is probably a parasite, and yes, your kitten needs to be treated right away. You will need to follow up with a flea, dewormer, etc. on a monthly basis. Revolution takes care of fleas, ticks, worms, and ear mites. Not all of the flea preparations do all of these things. It is a little more expensive, but worth it. I hope that your vet will go ahead and give your kitty an antibiotic to prevent secondary infections - intestinal,, oral,, lung,,etc. and to help clear up the possible infection at the anus.
Maybe he will give you a tube of food, that you can feed your kitty to maintain it's nutrition, and help with healing. They do have this stuff at Walmarts in the pet isle if your kitten doesn't want to eat regular kitten chow.
I hope that your kitten is much better real soon. cokoko

take it to the vet tomorrow. Could be worms, and diahrea is a symptom. Look on the net for some vet sites. I think it may be worms, and make sure it is hydrated. Like the guy said, dehydration is bad for a kitten.
