I was just wondering what the differences are between Army and Marine basic training. I always heard Marine boot camp is tougher so I was also wondering if there is any truth to this and just how much harder is it. I also heard that the Army in some places does not separate males and females. Any truth to this as well? And one more thing, I also wanted to know how many places for basic training does the Army have and how is it decided which one you go to. I know the Marine Corps only has two.

Marine Corps boot is longer and more physically demanding. The nearly 30% failure rate proves that those who succeed have EARNED the title "Marine"!!

depending or what class or mos you have the trainning will be harder in the marines because they do some things differant... and yes sometimes women trainning beside you....i know of four off hand the army trains at could be more each is for a differant mos

My father was a U.S. Marine and many others in my family. If you have the heart and manners and gumption, I'd say you have a 90% chance of making it as a Marine. If you are physically capable of the grueling training. And I'm talking grueling. It's no cakewalk. Your best bet is to go talk to a Recruiting Officer. They can direct you best. P.S. If you're in college, stay there, then maybe you can go for Officer Training.

Mainly time and physical training. Army was always easier but now it is more like a vacation honestly. Yes you heard right, males and females "trian" toghether now. When I went thru in 1993 it was alot different and when i visit training posts now I just laugh. And as far as where you will do basic, depends on where you live. South Carolina, Oklohoma are the main states for basic. depends on what is closer for you.

In Marine boot you get yelled at more, but that's the end of it. In the Army, yelling continues throughout your training.
Marine boot is also more physically demanding from what I understand.
