Simple myopia is a condition where the power of the eye is actually too strong for the associated length of the eye. What this means is that light entering the eye that has come from a source over 20 feet away is focused in front of rather than directly on the retina. Therefore, distance objects are blurry because the light is focusing anterior to the retina.
Astigmatism is a condition where an eye actually has two different prescriptions generally located 90 degrees apart and is usually a result of the cornea (front part of the eye) having two different curvatures. The most common example of an object with two different curvatures is a football. The curvature from point to point is flatter than the curvature encircling the middle of the football. Because the cornea has two different curvatures, the light entering the eye interacts with two different power surfaces and results in two separate focuses on the retina.
Both myopia and astigmatism, though, can cause distance objects to appear blurred. Hope this wasn't too confusing and hope it helped.

I agree w/ what was mentione above. The only thing I'm going to add is that myopia causes distance blurry vision, where astigmatism causes distance and near blurry vision. Check out the attached website, they'll really help u understand the difference b/w the 2 conditions in easy terms...

When your eyeball is too long, you have myopia (nearsightedness). When your eyeball is too short, you have hyperopia (farsightedness). Astigmatism is more difficult to correct, because this means your eye's surface is irregular. Also, you can have astigmatism when your eye's natural lens has an unusual shape.
