Seriously, if both cars pass the finish line at the same exact time who wins? Also has this ever happened before?

According to the NASCAR Rule book for each series, a tie breaker is determined by who is higher in the driver's points standings. Additionally, with the AMB Scoring System, a tie is virtually impossible due to the nano seconds that are counted when a car is scored. To date, there has never been a tie in any NASCAR racing series.

If there was an exact tie, then the winner would be declared by the driver that was leading at the last scoring loop.

The very first Daytona 500 was almost a tie, in fact the declared Johnny Beauchamp the winner, then later said Lee Petty won.

Although highly unlikley they would revert back to how many 2nd place finishes the driver has had during the season. Just like when two people qualify at the same time and they resort to however is higher in points. If the drivers were tied with 2nd places finishes they would go down the line from 2nd, to 3rd, place finishes and so and so on to determine the winner.

There can never be a tie. That's what the cameras are for. Photo finish...down to the thousandths of a second. Never happened, never will.

there has never been a tie and the way its timed to the thousandth of a sec. it would probably never ever happen.... but if your wanting more out of this answer than just its impossible, well...... they would determine it by most laps led!!! they dont go into overtime and run extra laps or anything. hope that helps!!!
