why is everyone sitting on the same side of the table? nobody does that lol

Thats what our photographer made us do at my wedding... everybody get on same side of the table

They are actually sitting on both sides of the table. The artist just have to draw to make it look like they're sitting on one side so that people can see what's going on.

If they sat on both sides of the table the artist could not render the faces of all present, now could he?

Nobody sat at tables, either.
It's called "artistic license" -- the painter rearranged things so it would make a prettier picture.
