When something embarrassing happened to you, and later that day you keep thinking of what happened and get this depressing feeling?

It's terrible to replay something embarrassing in one's mind over and over again after it's happened. But it's part of human nature; it's meant to keep us as part of a larger, more uniform group. It's actually a survival mechanism. As part of the "pack," we would be more protected, if this were still the caveman days.

Just something to ponder. Don't think about the embarrassing thing, anymore! It'll blow over sooner or later. And remember, no one's dwelling on it as much as you are. Chances are most of them don't even really care.

Like a tape recorder that is stuck on the embarrassing moment, playing over and over and over...
Yeah, it's very important to laugh it off at the time. Nobody is perfect, remember that.

Oh...good old mortification!! I know all too well that feeling of being mortified by some dumb, embarassing faux pas. Just try to forget it....it dissolves in your short term memory after awhile...but consciously "remembering" it is like picking a zit. It just gets worse with every squeeze!!

Ummm...wait a minute--is your (real) name Brittney??
