Wow. MOST born-again people do not oppose Catholicism; the only thing we oppose is the idea that people must earn their way to heaven by doing good works, totally disregarding the sacrifice of Jesus. This is NOT Catholicism, strictly speaking.

sigh,...yet another who believes that other denominations are SOOO much different than Catholics.
Were all christians. We believe that Christ is our savior and that he died for our sins. We believe that our way to salvation is to believe in Christ and repent our sins. These are the most important things in whatever denomination you are in.
whomever made a comment to you that makes you feel they are opposing catholicism is either A. misguided or B. you took it the wrong way and misunderstood.

When you look at the big picture, Catholics and protestants believe in the same basic principals ( the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ etc...) The only arguements are on doctrine. Paul warned about division in the Church, "where there is division among you are you not carnal?"

Because catholicism is near to paganism. Rituals, icons, images, saints and other practices are not biblical so those 'born again' people refuse to follow and practice them

Well that's just silly. The true path to God is believing in His Son, Jesus Christ, and what He did on the cross for us.

I dont oppose catholisism, im just not catholic. I think the catholic church complicates a simple message:
Love the Lord your God with all your Heart, mind, soul and strength.
Love your neighbor as yourself
Jesus died on the cross for your sins. accept him as Lord and Savior and you will have eternal life in Heaven.
thats it. thats the Gospel in a nutshell.
For me, all the rituals and tradition and formal repetative prayers, rules and regulations get in the way of that.
Some people fell like it brings them closer to God. They feel his presance in Catholic Church. And thats cool.
But I dont. So Im not catholic.

I once had a born Christan tell me I would go to hell because I sent my daughter to a Catholic school.
One thing about the Catholic church you dont have to pay 10% of your earnings to be a member.
