I have had depression all my life--well, as long as I remember. I am doing much better with meds and therapy, but I still tend to think in those same patterns. Now, I catch myself. Do these patterns ever go away altogether?

Use the negative thought reprogramming technique, at http://www.ezy-build.net. (.net.nz/~shaneris) on page 2 (read the section), and view the tips at the mental health abc & conquering stress websites. Deliberately BE positive and optimistic, and use the daily affirmations, and give the EFT a good tryout.

All I can tell you is from my experience, the only way to break the patterns is to take an honest look at them and resolve their source. Let yourself forgive you and move on to enjoying life. It is a difficult process but it can be done- no meds required. Get inspired, get a mentor and ask for help to take personal inventory and clean your mental house.

depression is an illness, and we just can't "get over it" even though we'd like to.

if your meds aren't helping, you can always ask the doctor for something different. it is YOUR body after all, and you are the only one who knows whether medications seem to work....

if you have clinical depression, it's an illness which may reoccur. you can do a yahoo search on COPING WITH DEPRESSION and i bet you will find a lot of info...

you can also join our formus Mental World haven at www.mentalworldhaven.com -- lots of NICE and very supportive members (we are a small group).. hugs
