Honestly, I would have it catered. It takes the pressure off of you. Who wants to be running around preparing food for people a day or even hours before the wedding.

Catering is the way to go. It might be a little more costly. But, you could pick dishes that are simple. Like Chicken and Pasta (usually not expensive) plus a garden salad and some sort of veggie.

Roast Beef, Turkey w/Stuffing, Potato Salad, Garden Salad, String Beans, Mixed Vegetables, Macaronni and Cheese, Dinner Rolls from Sam's and don't forget the Cranberry Sauce.

simple dishes..there is generally a style of food that is native to areas around the country..is there one for your area..it could be country or southern etc.... the last wedding reception i went too..they did finger foods from sams or walmart...and the one before that was potluck casseroles from everyone in the immediate family..the bride and groom provided two types of meat..both were great in their own way..and everyone pigged out and it didnt seem to cost and arm and a leg and noone was running around like a headless chicken either
