in some places, i have actually heard of people being able to determine what a person was before in his/her previous life, but its very hard to find them.
usually, many of the people you meet, are related to, and are friends with, have known you sometime in your previous life. Perhaps your mother may have been your best friend before, etc etc.
btw, to those who are NOT answering the question, please respect people's beliefs.

It's kind of interesting when you bump into a past life. One was a painter's helper in the late 1400s in Italy, a Dominican nun in mid 1300s in Germany, etc. nothing terribly dramatic.
I never expected to bump into a past life and never thought it could be relevant to the present challenges. But, it has been very helpful in understanding some thorny issues that I was certain did NOT originate in this lifetime. I found the immediate past life by accident ONLY because I had written something a hundred years ago someone else recognized as expressive of my peculiar perspective NOW. A little exploration and I recognized that identity, and some of the problems I had brought with me.
It's shouldn't be that relevant to your journey now. But, if you are encountering real difficulties, you could try a reputable hypnotherapist.

I can tell you that Buddhism believes in the topic and if you're interested in the Buddhist pov, there's www.buddhanet.net or the book "Tibetan Book of Living and Dying" by Sogyal Rinpoche will give you some insight. What you were before is irrelevant, except as you encounter the fruition of whatever karma you sowed in that life, which is to be met with proper understanding and equanimity so that you slam the brakes on any further "bad" karma and only create the "good" kind.

If reincarnation were true and existed, then more of the population would have a clue about it and there past experiences. It's basis is mythology, a delusion claiming to be something, but nothing at best.

At are most basic level we are all just vibrations of energy. It really depends in which religion which teaching reincarnation you are referring to. In Buddhism it is viewed that life is suffering. You may not be suffering now, but as your grow
older, become sicker, you will suffer. And most people suffer
regularly anyway as they let their desire control them. When you don't get what you want you suffer, the struggle to get these things causes suffering, in short ones attachment to the material world causes human suffering.
Buddhists view that these mental processes produce negative energy, and being selfless, and not being at the will of your emotions brings good karma, or good energy. Not far fetched, as mental processes do produce energy. At the end of ones life the energy of ones consciousness that one has produced is reborn until they reach enlightenment, or nirvana, and end the cycle of rebirths.
Most people are reborn as humans, though some as animals, this would take me awhile to explain.
As for knowing who you were, some young children have the ability, and those who practice meditation regularly. Unlike near death experiences, which can be explained as a brain going into shock and reproduced with certain drugs, there have been young children who have described their past life with details of their street/neighbors, this is the branch of parapsychology that gets respect from many scholars. Albert Einstein, among others, was fascinated with Buddhism. (Not the Abrahamic faiths as many of his quotes taken wrong lead many to believe.
"Buddhism has the characteristics of what would be expected in a cosmic religion for the future: it transcends a personal God, avoids dogmas and theology; it covers both the natural & spiritual, and it is based on a religious sense aspiring from the experience of all things, natural and spiritual, as a meaningful unity"
The religion of the future will be a cosmic religion. It should transcend personal God and avoid dogma and theology. Covering both the natural and the spiritual, it should be based on a religious sense arising from the experience of all things natural and spiritual as a meaningful unity. Buddhism answers this description. If there is any religion that could cope with modern scientific needs it would be Buddhism. (Albert Einstein)

It's true and Jesus does allow it. If you don't think so, then you don't trust never-ending eternal life as much as i do. You believe in death. I have never died.
Thank you God

I can you tell you that reincarnation is complete nonsense. There is no proof for reincarnation nor is there any need for it in the spirit world.

I can tell you that if it can't be proven to be false it requires the same faith to believe as does the stories or Mr. Jesus and his cloud surfing daddy....
