California has stricter laws on food content/labeling than any other state in the US. I believe the warning you see has to do with Prop 65. If there are trace chemicals used (even in cleaning equipment) in an ingredient of the food, then it has to be reported/labeled for Prop 65.
It's a personal choice whether you should use it or not. Keep it in moderation and you'll probably be just fine

I would be using a healthy sceptesism here.
If a dustbuster contains a chemical known to cause cancer, how?
Do you need to eat the dustbuster? Inject it? Smoke and inhale the fumes? Touch? (Use gloves?) Or just by being in the same room? (unlikely but possible).
Perhaps you could contact the manufacturer for more details.

California has there own label laws. It is easier and cheaper for companies to attach a cancer warning label than to argue the validity of the statement.

Does it cause cancer only when you're in California? Could you drive to Nevada to use it? Guess not!
I don't know what chemicals can be in a dustbuster that would cause cancer, but I would probably take it back. Next time see if something is manufactured in China before you buy it! Arrrgh! Sorry about my rant.

I would. Anything than contributes to cancer, and comes with a warning, you can believe it will be hazardous to your health.
We didn't know about the lead in Mattel toys either, but they are deadly. There are many many products on the market that contain carcinogens that we do not know about.
California is ahead of its time, and you will see these warning labels on more and more products, because they are made with no regard to health or safety. Look at pet foods today, with recalls everyday on more and more products other than dog food. There are hundreds of products recalled because they contain rat poison, plastic melamine, and other garbage.

Only if you live in California.
Really you will be seeing that warning a lot. They have a law there that if an item has been identified as a carcinogen it must be labeled. Most things that have an irritating chemical in it can be a carcinogen, that includes detergents and solvents.

ABSOLUTELY return it and I would write to the company and complain. Atleast they were honest enough to write that on the box since most products do contain cancer causing chemicals but they don't actually come right out & say it.

California is just crazy. You'll also notice walking in to every building that they have to have a sign posted about lead too. If everyone in California were at real risk real estate would be cheap!

I've seen that warning quite a few times. After looking over the product, I've always disregarded it.

I, personally, wouldn't worry about it. They're so ate up in that state about "carcinogenic" properties in substances and their "effect" on the environment. There's probably nothing wrong with it. Just don't go huffing it in your free time :)
