My cross country team has a bake-off this weekend, boys vs. girls. I need some ideas for a running-themed cake, please? And easy if you can, I will be doing it in a group. Thanks! :]

What about making a shoe cake? Look into contacting a local arts and crafts store, or even eBay to find shoe molds. You can pour the cake mix into it, bake it, and then invert it onto a platter where you frost it. You can get different colors of icing or make it yourself by getting white icing and using food coloring. You can use string licorice to make shoe laces, and more icing on the platter or use another whole cake as a platform of grass.

If you can't get a shoe mold quick enough, you can bake a couple of 9x13" cakes and then have help creating layers for the shoe so that it's multi-dimensional that way (i.e, without a mold making the shape for you) and use your shoe as a guide.

This could be a really fun project! Good luck!!!

Find a show called "Ace of Cakes" on the Food channel.
How about one shaped like a pair of running shoes?
Or a flat square, decorated with shoes, number cards, etc.

i would make 2 13x9 cakes.
cut them lengthwise to make them long and skinny . then decororate it to look like the road in the middle and like grass, trees etc on the sides and edges. it would be very easy and if you cut it in a snake shape it would look like a curvy road.
that would be easy and cute.
